As the trend of comedy is growing around the world.

we are continuously looking to inject some fun into our animated videos.

Injecting humor into every video is not an easy task as it depends upon the theme and target audience.

So, we have to be very specific and follow certain comedy rules while producing such a video.

Now, by our experience of making animated videos, we have figured out some points to keep in mind while adding humor to a business video.

Be specific right from the start:

A Survey shows that attention spans have been declining from 12 seconds in 2000 to 8 seconds in 2012.

Which is a short time to grab attention.

When a client comes asking for a funny video.

Animators try to figure out jokes and try to make the video funnier leaving behind the core theme of the video which should be highly discouraged.

Hence, the starting seconds of the video should clearly state its message rather than concentrating much on the comedy part.

The first question from our clients in such cases is to ask the key message they are trying to communicate through the video.

Now, we ask ourselves if comedy represents the relevant theme for the video.

And if the answer is an affirmation, we mold that central message into a humorous animated video using our creativity.

It may seem very tempting to show the audience something new.

But it should be noted that comedy should always enhance the story and should not distract the audience.

Study behavior of the target audience:

Sometimes, your video has got a remarkable sense of humor but still, it doesn’t perform well in the case of a certain audience.

To overcome this problem, you have to understand your target audience instead of accusing them of not appreciating your joke.

Apart from doing market research on your customers, you should also understand their sense of humor.

This becomes much more difficult when the size of your audience is massive but informs you better while choosing a final concept.

In the case of a broader audience, it is advised to keep the humor universal with no room for sarcasm and specific parodies.

Using memes and trending issues will surely attract youth but the lifespan of such topics should be kept in mind.

A long-lasting video that plays to the intelligence of viewers is constantly encouraged.

Intend your humor:

Intend your fun and jokes to match with the context of your explainer video.

Writing a comedy script may be a tedious task and you might feel that your content isn’t funny enough.

To overcome this problem, you can try showing the explainer animated video to your colleagues.

Examine their reaction but most importantly, you should laugh at your video.

As directed in the first point, you should try to write a script that delivers only the key message of the video.

Then place the humor in suitable positions.

Your video must not look like you are forced to be funny because in that case, it won’t work.

All of your humor must be natural and correctly placed.

The indentation of jokes must be steady so that everything advances according to your plan.

Your finale must be as crisp and strong as your start.

Therefore, try to end with a solid gag line so that you easily draw your viewers’ attention and increase the chances of conversion.

Use graphics instead of narratives:

Since we are dealing with visual media instead of doing a stand-up comedy, why don’t we use our technology and show things but tell them?

It is a well-known fact that humor through narration is established with great ease as compared to graphics.

While they witness everything which is going on the screen.

If your visuals are strong enough, you will easily conquer the annoying auto-mute on many websites.
